MOU Signing Ceremony for an Academic Collaboration between Chaipattana Foundation and Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)

On June 10, 2014, Mr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation, together with Mr. Lalit Thanomsing, Assistant Secretary-General, and Professor Dr. Kasem Chankao, Chaipattana Foundation’s environment expert and Director of the Royally-initiated Leam Phak Bia Environment Research and Development Center, presided over the MOU signing ceremony for an academic collaboration between Chaipattana Foundation and Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

On this occasion, the Secretary-General also presided over the opening ceremony of 5th International Conference on Biotechnology for the Wellness Industry (ICBWI) and attended the lecture entitled “Success Stories on Helping Community and Impact on Socio-economy Through Research and Development” by Professor Dr. Kasem Chankao.

Later on, the Secretary-General visited Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), which is a statutory agency under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and also a partner of UTM, to inspect FRIM's work on herbal processing. FRIM has the main objective to promote and support sustainable and optimum utilization of forest resources through research and development.
