MOU Signing Ceremony for Vegetable Seeds Production and Distribution between the Chaipattana Foundation and East-West Seed International Limited

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted a permission to the Chaipattana Foundation by Prince Chakrabandh Pensiri Center for Plant Development to collaborate with East-West Seed International Limited with an aim to produce and distribute vegetable seeds to farmers and general public. East-West Seed International Limited has its own well-known seed brand named “Sorndaeng”. Thanks to this collaboration, farmers and general public can easily access to the seeds at low price. This is the ultimate goal of the Chaipattana Foundation, which aims to uplift the people’s quality of living, leading to the stability of the nation or “victory through development”.

On 16 November 2021, at 14.00, Mr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Member and Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation, and Mr. Wichai Laocharoenpornkul, East-West Seed Thailand General Manager, presided over the MOU signing ceremony “the cooperation in vegetable seeds production and distribution” between the Chaipattana Foundation and East-West Seed International Limited. The ceremony was organized at 101 Meeting Room of the Chaipattana Foundation, Bangkok.

There are 16 kinds of vegetable seeds; 10 of those genetics were developed by Maejo University, i.e., Sirindhorn Purple Long Bean Number 1, Sirindhorn Purple String Bean Number 1, Debaratana Yellow String Bean Number 1, Tiger-printed Chakraband Long Bean Number 1, Yok Chakraband Eggplant, Grand Father Sumet Chili Pepper 1, Pattanachan Chili Pepper, Purple Lettuce, Green Lettuce and muskmelon.

Chakraband Tomato No 1, Chakraband Tomato No 2, Lanna Long Bean, Lanna Pumpkin, Yellow Chinese Cabbage and Lanna Eggplant were developed by Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna.

The 16 kinds of vegetable seeds are well packed in the packet named “Smart Chan Ka Pak” in order to maintain the seeds’ quality. The growing manuals including the harvesting method, soil nourishing and fertilizing are available in the box set. The individual seed packet is sold at 25-30 Baht.

In the year 2022, the tiger year in Chinese zodiac,  we have prepared the new year vegetable planting kit gift set "Chan Ka Phak Song Rak Year of the Tiger 2022" for sale. The set includes vegetable seeds, planting pots and planting equipment, which are ready to be grown. The grower could have fresh, safe and toxic-free vegetable for household consumption.
