HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn attends the Fifth International Conference on Vetiver (ICV-5), Lucknow, India
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to India’s Lucknow to preside over the opening ceremony of the Fifth International Conference on Vetiver (ICV-5), held between October 28-30, 2011. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness was greeted and accompanied by Privy Councilor Ampol Senanarong, Chaipattana Foundation Secretary-General Dr Sumet Tantivejkul, Royal Development Projects Board Secretary-General Chalermkiat Saenwiset, as well Thai academics who also presented their papers at the Conference.
The ICV-5 was organized by the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants under the theme of Vetiver and Climate Change. It was also supported Her Royal Highness who graciously presented The King of Thailand Vetiver Awards 2011 to the winners of academic research papers from Thailand, India, Australia, China, Venezuela, and Madagascar.
On this occasion, President and Chairman of the Vetiver Network International, Dr Jim Smyle, praised His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej for his effort in promoting vetiver planting for soil and water conservation. Dr Smyle acknowledged also his longstanding support to organizing the International Conference on Vetiver.
