His Majesty the King travels down Chao Phraya River and presided over the opening of five royally-initiated irrigation projects
On July 7, 2012, His Majesty the King, accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, traveled on the royal navy ship, Angsana, along the Chao Phraya River to visit riverside communities affected by last year’s flooding in Koh Kret, Nonthaburi province.
The ship then proceeded to the Royal Irrigation Department where His Majesty graciously pressed his palm on the electronic plate to simultaneously open royally-initiated irrigation projects in five different provinces, including Nakhon Nayok, Phitsanulok, Kalasin, Nakhon Phanom, and Nakhon Si Thammarat. The projects have been established to supply water for agriculture and consumption, as well as to help prevent and relieve possible recurrence of floods for the Thai people.
