HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Visits Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development at Buriram and Surin Province

On 24 May 2016, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to Buriram province to inspect the operational work of Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development of the Chaipattana Foundation. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness visited the community that participated in the royally-granted jasmine rice 105 production under the project “Friends for Friends”, at Nongdon subdistrict, Lampraimad district, Buriram province. The Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development together with 26 Military Circles and Chao Phraya Maha Kasat Suk Camp organized a project named “Tahan Pan Dee” (good soldiers) with an aim to encourage military personnel to gain knowledge in organic vegetable cultivation for good quality consumption standard. This also helps local people to earn an extra income.

On 25 May 2016, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development at Surin Province. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness graciously presented 892 tons and 900 kilograms of the Thai species of jasmine rice 105 to 8,117 affected farmers from drought crisis in Surin, Buriram and Srisaket Provinces. The presented jasmine rice is the production from “Friends for Friends” project of the Chaipattana Foundation. This project aims to produce and preserve good quality rice for people affected by environmental crises. Later, Her Royal Highness visited the community that participated in the production of royally-granted jasmine rice and royally-granted fruit plants projects to help the local people to produce qualified rice and to grow good quality fruit plants. These activities aim at creating sustainable well-being and the sense of self-reliance among the local populace.
