Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Travels to Observe the Operation of “Thaharn Phandee Project (Good Farmer Soldiers)” in Songkhla Province
On 18 January 2022, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to observe the operation of “Thaharn Phandee Project (Good Farmer Soldiers)” at 4th Development Division, Rattanapol Military Camp, Songkhla Province and presided over the opening of the 10th branch of “PatPat” shop of the Chaipattana Foundation.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted an initiation to the Chaipattana Foundation to cooperate with Prince Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development and Royal Thai Army to set up “Thaharn Phandee Project (Good Farmer Soldiers)”. The project aims to be a learning center for conscripts to learn and develop knowledge in agriculture, vegetable seed production, and animal breeding. Additionally, the project also received royally-granted animal breeds, royally-granted fruit and vegetable crops from the Chaipattana Foundation. This Project is expected to create food stability and security in community to Thai people in a sustainable manner.
The 4th Development Division, Rattanapol Military Camp is located in Klong Hoi Khong, Songkhla Province. Good Farmer Soldiers Project has been operated since 2019. At present, the 4th Development Division has set up royally-granted poultry production “Friends for Friends” in the lower southern part according to the royal initiative since the end of 2019, i.e., 1. royally-granted poultry production center "Friends for Friends" for raising black bone chickens and Pradu Hang Dam chickens for further distribution to the people in southern areas.
In 2010, Her Royal Highness graciously granted a permission to set up royally-granted freshwater fish breed production center “Friends for Friends” in the 4th Development Division for consumption and breeding, and the surplus could be sold for additional income.
Moreover, the 4th Development Division has joined the project “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai (Happy community, Healthy Food)”, by distributing Chitralada Nile Tilapia to schools in the vicinity for being a source of protein for children’s lunch. The Project also helps set up vegetable plots, vegetable tunnel for growing a variety of crops for consumption as part of School Lunch Project. Additionally, the trainings on safe vegetable cultivation were provided for students, so that they can extend knowledge to their families and grow vegetable for household consumption. The Project’s results have been extended to 11 schools in border and vacant areas of Songkhla and Phatthalung Provinces.
The area management in the 4th Development Division has been developed according to the concept of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and the New Theory of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. The Project is expected to be a learning center for military officers, communities, schools and general people.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness also presided over the opening of the 10th branch of “PatPat” shop, which is located in the 4th Development Division, Rattanapol Military Camp, Songkhla Province. This shop is the 1st PatPat shop in southern Thailand.
