Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Travels to Observe the Operation of Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) in Buriram Province
On 21 August 2023, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to observe the operation of Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Fort Somdejchaophraya Mahakasatsuek and Thaharn Phandee Project “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food) at Phlapphla Chai and Lam Plai Mat Districts in Buriram Province.
At 9:45 am., Her Royal Highness proceeded to Mr. Dejchasit Soprakon’s house, at Phlapphla Chai Village, Sa Dao Sub-district, Phlapphla Chai District, to observe vegetable plantation plots eg. asparagus and backyard garden vegetable. Mr. Dejchasit used to serve as a conscript working in Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers), 26th Infantry Regiment. After he finished military mission, he has applied knowledge from the Thaharn Phandee Project at his hometown, for example, safe vegetable cultivation and animal raising. The produces are used for consumption and the surplus can be sold to the neighbors. Furthermore, he has also extended the knowledge to the community by encouraging neighbors to cultivate vegetables.
At 11:00 am., Her Royal Highness traveled to Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers), 26th Infantry Regiment, Fort Somdejchaophraya Mahakasatsuek. The Project covers an area of 28 rai (11.2 acres) and the activities conducted here are asparagus and herbal plant cultivation, wood vinegar production, microorganism and bio-fermentation production, compost making and animal husbandry. Herbal plants are further processed to use at Somdet Chao Phraya Mahakasatsuek Hospital. The conscripts will bring back knowledge to implement at their hometowns. In addition, the Thaharn Phandee Project “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food) also extends the Project’s result to 11 schools in the areas under the responsibility.
At 2:00 pm., Her Royal Highness proceeded to Thaharn Phandee Project “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food), at Ban Nong Muang School, Tamenchai Sub-district, Lam Plai Mat Districts, Buriram Province. The 26th Infantry Regiment has promoted safe vegetable cultivation for schools. Various activities have been carried out by students and teachers, including the cultivation of safe vegetables, planting asparagus, making wood vinegar, and raising shellfish. The produces are used to prepare meals for students. Those interested can bring back vegetables to further grow at their hometowns for consumption and the surplus can be sold to the community for additional income. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness also visited the home of Mrs. Somkamol Saengram, who is now 77 years old. She actively participates in vegetable cultivation and she is the grandmother of students from Nongmaung School. Mrs. Somkamol is passionate in agriculture, growing backyard garden vegetables for household consumption, and selling them to neighbors for supplementary income.
