Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Travels to Observe the Operation of “Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Phraya Sunthon Thammathada Camp, Udon Thani Province
On 22 March 2024, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to observe the operation of “Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at the 3rd Infantry Division” at Phraya Sunthon Thammathada Camp, Non Sung Sub-district, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province.
In 2021, Her Royal Highness graciously granted a permission to the Prince Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development of the Chaipattana Foundation to collaborate with the 3rd Infantry Division in order to set up “The Good Farmer Soldiers” at the 3rd Infantry Division, Phraya Sunthon Thammathada Camp in Udon Thani Province. The Project covers an area of 56.9 acres.
The Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) has carried out the project named “Baan Nee Mee Rak Plook Pak Kin Aeng” (Grow the Veggies in the Home of Love). This Project is a royally-initiated project aiming to encourage the military personnel to grow safe vegetables for household consumption in order to reduce expenses. In addition, the 3rd Infantry Division has also joined in “Share the Love, Share the Veggies Project”. At present, 9 types of fruit tree, 31 varieties, 1,653 has been cultivated in the area covering 10 acres.
The Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at the 3rd Infantry Division has cultivated Chakraband Tiger-printed long bean in an area of 0.25 acre. The seeds are conserved for distributing to people affected from natural disasters, or when Thailand was struck with crisis. The vegetable cultivation plots are used as a demonstration plots for military personnel to learn how to grow safe vegetables for consumption, while the knowledge and experience in cultivation could be extended to benefit their own communities.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness graciously opened the 3 centers of animal production which are 1. Royally-granted Freshwater Fish Production Center “Friends for Friends” in the upper Northeastern region 2. Royally-granted Poultry Breeding Center “Friends for Friends” in the upper Northeastern Region 3. Royally-granted Frog Breeding Center “Friends for Friends” in the Northeastern Region.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness graciously had a conversation with military personnel and gave them morale support and encouragement to continue performing their duties.
