Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Travels to Observe the Operation of Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Sri Song Rak Military Base in Loei Province

On 6 August 2022, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to observe the operation of Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Sri Song Rak Military Base in Loei Province.

There are 3 military units participating in the Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Sri Song Rak Military Base, i.e., 28th Military Circle, 1st Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, and 21st Ranger Regiment. The Project covers an area of 98 rai (39.2 acres) and the operation has been conducted since February 2022.

At the 28th Military Circle, there are 15 kinds of safe vegetable, including Andrographis paniculate, to distribute to the locals. In addition, the Project also raises royally-granted frogs, bullfrogs, local crabs, Bang Pakong layer-ducks, Pradu black tailed chickens, White Tailed Yellow Chickens, and Chee Chickens. Additionally, the Project also conducted experiment in raising earthworms, buffaloes, producing wooden vinegar, and fertilizer. Also, the royally-granted fruit trees are also planted in the Project “Tang Nee Mee Phol Poo Kon Rak Kan” (Share the Love, Share the Veggies).

The 1st Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment has participated in Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) since 10 May 2022, with 27 troops. The Project covers a total area of about 21 rai (8.4 acres), carrying out 6 activities, which are royally-granted poultry farming, growing insect repellent herbs, growing local vegetables “Isan Ban Hao”, growing safe vegetables, growing Acacia, and participating in Tang Nee Mee Phol Poo Kon Rak Kan” (Share the Love, Share the Veggies). Moreover, the Project has also expanded the results of Thaharn Phandee “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food) to Loei Wang Sai School, Loei Wang Sai Sub-district, Phu Luang District, Loei Province and also expanded the result of “Ban Nee Mee Rak Plook Pak Kin Aeng” (Grow the Veggies in the Home of Love) to the community in the camp.

The 21st Ranger Regiment has joined in Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) since 19 July 2022. Since then, the agricultural cultivation plots and animal husbandry have been developed to serve military personnel in the camp. The Project has 16 military personnel trained from Prince Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development of the Chaipattana Foundation. Within the project, 15 types of royally-granted vegetables are cultivated in an area of ​​2 rai (0.8 acre). Furthermore, there is an experiment in raising royally-granted chickens, royally-granted ducks, royally-granted frogs, river snail farming and fruit tree cultivation.

Thanks to the royal grace of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Thai people have received high quality and safe vegetables for household consumption and the surplus of these vegetables can be sold for additional income and for creation of a network of safe vegetables in the community.
