Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Presides over the Opening Ceremony of the “PatPat Camellia Seed Oil Festival”

On 18 October 2024, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremony of the “PatPat Camellia Seed Oil Festival” at G Floor (Em Glass tower) Emsphere, Bangkok, which was organized by the cooperation of the Chaipattana Foundation and The Mall Group.

The "PatPat Camellia Seed Oil Festival" is a joint initiative between the Chaipattana Foundation and The Mall Group Co., Ltd. to promote and distribute PatPat Camellia Seed Oil, while raising awareness of its benefits. This project aligns with Her Royal Highness's initiative to study the cultivation of Camellia oleifera oil tea trees in Thailand’s highland areas as part of a forest restoration effort under the Oil Tea Tree Cultivation Study and Development Project in Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Rai Province.

Currently, oil tea trees are cultivated on over 3,500 rai (approximately 1,400 acres) in Pang Mahan and Puna villages, Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. The project has resulted in the planting of approximately 470,000 oil tea trees, benefiting around 3,000 local residents. These communities have improved their livelihoods by caring for the trees and supplying the harvested seeds to the research and development center in Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, where the seeds are processed into edible oil beneficial for Thai consumers. This initiative not only supports local communities but also contributes to forest restoration, making the cultivation of oil tea trees an environmentally and socially sustainable endeavor.

The "PatPat Camellia Seed Oil Festival" is held from 17-27 October 2024, at EM GLASS, G Floor, EmSphere Shopping Mall.
