On 20 December 2024, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to observe the operation progress at OUR Khung BangKachao (2018–2023) at the King Rama IX 80th Birthday Anniversary Park, Song Kanong Subdistrict, Phra Pradaeng District, Samut Prakan Province.
OUR Khung BangKachao Project aims to promote social collaboration between the Chaipattana Foundation and public and private sectors, including the local people, to be in line with the local way of life in a sustainable manner. The main objective is to become a role model of green community development in Thailand. The Project has implemented His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great's principle of "understand, reach out, and develop” and Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) as a roadmap in development.
The project is carried out by six working committees, each focusing on a key area:
- Green Space Development – Led by PTT Public Company Limited
- Water Management and Riverbank Erosion Control – Led by the Utokapat Foundation under Royal Patronage and the Hydro Informatics Institute (Public Organization) (HII)
- Waste Management – Led by PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited
- Career Promotion – Led by Central Group
- Sustainable Tourism – Led by the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA)
- Youth, Education, and Cultural Development – Led by Thai Beverage Public Company Limited
The objective of this initiative is a collaborative approach, bringing together public and private organizations, as well as the local Khung Bang Kachao community. The project operates under the Chaipattana Foundation's guidance, following the principles of "Understand, Reach Out, Develop" and the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy to ensure sustainable development.
Over the past five years, OUR Khung BangKachao Project has expanded its network to 113 partner organizations, increasing green space to more than 6,148 rai (approximately 2,420 acres). The project has also fostered a community network of Khung Bang Kachao, ensuring the long-term sustainability of this green area.
