Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Observes the Activity of Transplanting Rice Seedlings at Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy in Nakhon Nayok Province
On 21 July 2020, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn made a royal visit to Nakhon Nayok Province to observe the activity of transplanting rice seedlings (RD79) at the paddy demonstration plot at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, Muang District, Nakhon Nayok Province. After that, Her Royal Highness proceeded to observe agricultural produce along the farm’s ridge of agricultural demonstration plots number 3 and 5 respectively.
The RD79 rice is the new rice species certified by Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. This type of rice fulfills the farmer’s need perfectly because it provides higher yield and can be grown all year round. Once cooked, it has aromatic smell with soft texture. In addition, this rice is cheaper than jasmine rice and good for export overseas. The Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy’s students from the Southern Fruit Orchard Project have cultivated a variety of fruits, for example, durian, mangosteen, Cempedak, mango, nutmeg, dragon fruit, pepper and kaffir lime. This is the first year that the project can produce durians with high production. Lately, the project invited the experts in durian and other fruit crops cultivation to guide the students about good agricultural practices.
