Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana Proceeds to Wat Mongkol Chaipattana Land Development Project According to the Royal Initiative, Saraburi Province.
On 2 December 2020, Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana proceeded to Wat Mongkol Chaipattana Land Development Project According to the Royal Initiative, Saraburi Province.
In 1989, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great granted an initiation to the Chaipattana Foundation to purchase the land located in the vicinity of Wat Mongkol Chaipattana Temple, Chalermprakiat District, Saraburi Province, covering an area of 16 rai (6.4 acres). At present, the Project is aimed to be a model for farmers and general people to learn how to conduct integrated farming, in which the variety of crops are grown in order to generate income all year round.
Later, in 1992, His Late Majesty granted an initiative to the Chaipattana Foundation to purchase additional land, and meanwhile, the philanthropist donated the land to His Late Majesty, covering an area of 15 rai. This piece of land has been used to conduct agricultural demonstration according to the Royal initiative. On 25 January 1993, His Late Majesty paid a visit to the Project to observe operational progress and graciously granted the name to this type of agriculture as “New Theory”. This Project is the model for farmers to manage and make use of their limited piece of land for the utmost benefits.
The farmland, for optimum benefits, is divided into four parts with a ratio of 30:30:30:10. The first 30% is designated for a pond. The second 30% is set aside for rice cultivation. The third 30% is used for growing horticultural crops. The last 10% is set aside for accommodation, animal husbandry, roads and other structures.
Wat Mongkol Chaipattana Land Development Project is considered the first New Theory demonstration in Thailand.
