Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Observes the Operation Progress of the Late Princess Mother’s Garden through an Online Channel
On 28 April 2021, at 08.30, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn observed the operation progress of the Late Princess Mother’s Garden, Phetchaburi Province through an online channel.
The Late Princess Mother’s Garden is located not far from Huai Sai Royal Development Study Centre. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great granted a royal initiative to develop and rehabilitate the land in this area for agricultural purpose emphasizing on the reforestation and forest rehabilitation. The water sources for the reforestation were managed together with crops cultivation. At the same time, the people were organized to make use of the Project’s area. They were also encouraged to take care of the forest and grow a variety of crops by not destroying the forest.
The Chaipattana Foundation has strictly adhered to His Late Majesty’s initiative as a roadmap to operate and develop the Project. At the project, many activities have been conducted, for example, integrated farming, New Theory, effective cultivation system, natural resources conservation and crop breeding, value added product development, welcoming study visit group, etc. The ratio of the pond at the 2nd New Theory demonstration plot at the Project was downsized to 12% as to His Late Majesty’s suggestion that the ratio of New Theory land management should be flexible. This means that if the area is located not far from irrigation area, the size of the pond could be diminished for doing other purposes.
In terms of water management, the Project has coordinated with many organizations to develop the water sources by digging the waterway and 2 check dams. The 3 building constructions for water management purpose was conducted. The wet firebreak is another approach to be surveyed and constructed with an aim to keep forest moisture and prevent forest fire.
