Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Traveled to Observe the Operations of “Thaharn Phandee Project (Good Farmer Soldiers)” in Roi Et Province
On 20 May 2021, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to observe the operations of “Thaharn Phandee Project (Good Farmer Soldiers)” at 27th Military Circle, Prasert Songkhram Camp and 6th Infantry Division, Fort Somdet Phraphuttayotfachulalok Maharat in Roi Et Province.
The conscript at 27th Military Circle joined Thaharn Phandee Project (Good Farmer Soldier) on 30 January 2020. The military officers have been trained at Prince Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development of the Chaipattana Foundation in Chiang Rai Province in order to learn about safe vegetable cultivation, fruit cultivation, Nile tilapia raising, local breed of chicken raising, Bangpakong layer duck raising, compose making, mushroom cultivation, shrimp and river snail farming, etc. The produces from these mentioned activities are used for consumption and the surplus will be sold to the communities in low price. This project is considered as a study center and also a natural crop breeding reservation.
So far, Thaharn Phandee Project (Good Farmer Soldier) has been extended to the communities. About 427 soldiers of four military classes, who served the full term of service, were given seeds and were assigned to extend the knowledge and knowhow from this project to 4,270 people in different communities, two schools and 320 students in the project “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai (Happy community, Healthy Food)”. In addition, the seeds were donated to help 242 victims of disasters. After that, Her Royal Highness continued to observe the operations of “Thaharn Phandee Project (Good Farmer Soldiers)” at the 6th Infantry Division, Fort Somdet Phraphuttayotfachulalok Maharat.
The 6th Infantry Division received some advice from the Chaipattana Foundation about the raising of Nile tilapia, the freshwater fish widely consumed. Then, the division recruited the elder officers who were interested in fish farming to join the project and took them to visit and observe the operation of Chitralada Nile tilapia farming in different areas. The pros and cons of operation from these areas have been applied for utmost benefits in fish farming. Later, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn had the foundation establish a Royal Freshwater Fish Breeding Center “Friends for Friends” in the southern area of the northeast region, at the 6th Infantry Division, Fort Somdet Phraphuttayotfachulalok Maharat. Also, Her Royal Highness had an idea to let the 6th Infantry Division produce more chicken breeds and give them to the people there.
In this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn allocated some budget from the “Chaipattana Covid-19 Aid Fund (and Other Pandemics)” to buy medical equipment and distribute it to Fort Somdet Phraphuttayotfachulalok Maharat Hospital to treat those suffering from the COVID-19. The said equipment includes defibrillator, automatic heart and vital signs monitors, and respirators. The respirators herein were donated to the “Chaipattana Covid-19 Aid Fund (and Other Pandemics)” by Haier Electric Appliance (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
