Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Travels to Observe the Operation of “Thaharn Phandee Project” and “Dtam-ruat Phandee Project” in Lampang Province
On 24 January 2022, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to observe the operation of “Thaharn Phandee Project (Good Farmer Soldiers)” at Surasak Montri Military Camp and “Dtam-ruat Phandee Project (Good Farmer Police)”in Lampang Province.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted a permission to the 32nd Military Circle and Military Unit in Lampang Province to set up the Thaharn Phandee Project (Good Farmer Soldier) with an aim to be an agricultural learning center for conscripts. The Project, covering an area of 61 rai (24.4 acres), has been operated since 2018.
The objectives are to create military personnel who are interested in learning chemical-free farming. After completing the military service, the draftees are expected to provide the community members with knowledge and guidance on how to grow safe crops in a sustainable manner as to the model of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.
The 14 military officers in 9 districts, who completed their services, have applied and extended this knowledge to the surrounding communities. In addition, the results have been extended to communities in Koh Kha District, totaling 42 households.
Later, Her Royal Highness proceeded to observe an operation of “Dtam-ruat Phandee Project (Good Farmer Police)” at 5th Provincial Police Region, Ko Kha Police Station. The Project was set up in the year 2018. The police officers have implemented the concept of “Ban Nee Mee Rak Plook Pak Kin Aeng” (grow vegetable for your own consumption), derived from Prince Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development of the Chaipattana Foundation. The project’s results has been expanded to 159 police stations under its jurisdiction.
The Project at Ko Kha Police Station is considered the first operation in the area of Special Detachment Unit, Investigative Department in Chiang Rai Provincial Police, Tha Sai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province.
Provincial police station in Lampang Province has conducted many activities, for example, safe vegetable cultivation and poultry farming in vacant areas of the police station. The products from the activities will be used for consumption in the Station, and the surplus will be distributed to the police’s families. This will help reduce the expenses in their families and also allow them to live their life in a sufficient manner according to the royal initiative. The activity has been conducted in an area of 12 rai, 1 ngan (4.9 acres) behind the police station since September 2020.
The area there is divided into 2 parts, i.e., animal raising and home-grown vegetable cultivation, under the project “Ban Nee Mee Rak Plook Pak Kin Aeng” (grow vegetable for your own consumption).
These activities result in love and unity among the police officers. The results of the Project have been thereafter extended to the vicinity communities, so that they can have safe vegetables for consumption and sustainable living conditions according to His Late Majesty’s intention. This Project ultimately helps achieve the national food security and stability, too.
