Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Travels to Observe the Operation of Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Fort Khun Chuang Thanmikarat Military Camp, Phayao Province
On 27 April 2022, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to observe the operation of Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Fort Khun Chuang Thanmikarat Military Camp, Phayao Province.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted a permission to 34th Military District, Military Student Training Unit of 34th Military District, 17th Infantry Regiment and 17th Artillery Battalion, 4th Artillery Regiment, to join in Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Fort Khun Chuang Thanmikarat Military Camp. The military officers there have been trained about how to conduct safe vegetable cultivation. The project has been operated since April 2021 covering an area of 107 rai (42.8 acres). It acts as a study center in which the main activities such as agriculture, livestock, and fisheries have been conducted.
Agriculture Activity: There is a cultivation of various vegetables such as basil, okra, zucchini, kale, long beans, etc.
Livestock Activity: There are Bangpakong layer duck raising, Barbary duck raising, Black bone Chicken and Pradu Hang Dam Chicken, which were received from Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldier) in Nan Province and Prince Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development in Chiang Rai Province.
Fisheries Activity: There are Chitralada Nile Tilapia Raising and Gourami raising in soil pond, which were received from Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldier) at the 3th Development Division. The 3 frog species such as Na Nan Frog from Friends for Friends of 32nd Ranger Forces Regiment Royally-granted Frog Production Center, Tung Kula Frog from Prince Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development in Surin Province and Jan Na Frog from Surat Thani Province.
Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldier) has provided knowledge to military officers and general people on how to grow safe vegetables. After they finish military mission, they can extend knowledge to their own communities.
The vegetables from the Project are available for sale in low price to the community. In addition, the interested people can come and study from the Project while the seeds from the Project are distributed to people to further grow in their communities. In this manner, the people will have additional income, and reduce household expenses in a sustainable manner.
