Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Leads the Diplomatics Corps and Spouses to Visit the Chaipattana Foundation’s Projects
On 28-30 April 2023, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn led 55 diplomatic corps and spouses from 37 countries to visit the Chaipattana Foundation’s projects in Phetchaburi Province and Samut Songkhram Province. The objectives of the visit are to promote His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great’s concepts and approaches to development, which are clearly presented through various projects of the Chaipattana Foundation. The royally-initiated projects are carried out according to His Majesty’s initiatives, emphasizing the affordable, simple and applicable methods that the people can easily learn and apply in their daily life. By using these approaches, the country can be developed in a sustainable and self-reliant manner.
On the first day, 28 April 2023, Her Royal Highness graciously delivered a speech on “Achieving Sustainable Development through the Works of the Chaipattana Foundation”, which was organized at Marriott Hua Hin Resort & Spa in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
On 29 April 2023, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn led the diplomatic corps and spouses to visit Suan Somdej Prasrinakarinthara Baromrajachonnanee or the Late Princess Mother’s Garden in Phetchaburi Province. The Garden adopts the royal initiatives as guidelines of simple management. This area used to be deteriorated and arid, leading to unproductive agricultural practices. The agriculture knowledge provided here emphasizes sustainability in the areas of economy, society and environment. After the project had been launched, the degraded area was transformed and it became green and ready for cultivation.
After that, at 1:30 pm., the group travelled to Vegetable Oil Refining and Bio-Diesel Integrated Production Plant, Raimaipattana Sub-district, Cha Am District, Phetchaburi Province. The Plant was established as to the initiation of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. His Majesty had a great concern on the energy problem since 1975. His Majesty, therefore, granted an initiative to conduct a study on the use of palm oil as renewable energy to replace diesel oil that is normally used in machines. Later, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted an initiation to the Chaipattana Foundation to cooperate with Prince of Songkla University to develop the area into the Vegetable Oil Refining and Bio-diesel Integrated Production Plant, which now serves as a model for environmentally-friendly bio-diesel production.
On 30 April 2023, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, together with the diplomatic corps and spouses, travelled to Laem Phak Bia Environmental Research and Development Project (LERD), Laem Phak Bia Sub-district, Ban Laem District, Phetchaburi Province. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great granted an initiative for the Chaipattana Foundation to find out the solutions to ease environmental problems caused by solid waste and waste water. Most importantly, His Majesty gave a direction that the solutions would involve the natural methods with simple approaches to solve the problems. At the LERD Project, studies and researches had been conducted to seek methods for managing wastewater and garbage, and restoring the mangrove forest, which include solid waste disposal concreate boxes, lagoon treatment, grass filtration and constructed wetland.
After that, at 1:30 pm., Her Royal Highness, along with the diplomatic corps and spouses, traveled to Amphawa Chaipattananurak Conservation Project, Amphawa Sub-district, Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Provinces. On this occasion, Mr. Danucha Sintawanon, Member and Deputy Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation, led Miss Boonrod Panprasert, to present Her Royal Highness with a plot of land deed covering an area of 4.3 acres, located at Wat Pradu Sub-district, Amphawa District, Samut Songkram Province. The Chaipattana Foundation has implemented His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s development principles of “socio-geographical conditions” and the philosophy of the “Sufficiency Economy” as a road map for the development of the area. The main objective is to have every concerned party in Amphawa join in by preserving and reviving the customs of the Amphawa community. In this way, the community will get strengthened and the local people will lead a simple, sustainable and happy life amidst the rapid social changes.
