Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Presided Over the Opening Ceremony of the “PatPat Camellia Seed Oil Festival” at EmQuartier Department Store
On 4 September 2023, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremony of the “PatPat Camellia Seed Oil Festival” at Quartier Gallery, M Floor, EmQuartier Department Store, Bangkok, which was organized by the cooperation of the Chaipattana Foundation and The Mall Group.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously opened the event of “PatPat Camellia Seed Oil Festival”. During the event, Her Royal Highness presented a heart-shaped symbol on a bottle of Camellia oleifera and also drew an image of Camellia oleifera bottle on a heart-shaped symbol. Additionally, Her Royal Highness also prepared one dish named “Sa Pathum Omelette”, using PatPat Camellia Seed Oil as an ingredient. The dish was graciously bestowed upon those attending the festival for tasting. After that, Her Royal Highness proceeded to observe the Camellia oleifera exhibition, which showcased the natural dyeing silk thread from the fruit shell of Camellia oleifera, crafted by silk weaving group of “Sericulture Integrated-Learning Center of the Chaipattana Foundation”, Ban Khwao District, Chaiyaphum Province. There were a variety of products from many shops in the event, for example, PatPat of the Chaipattana Foundation, several stores in the Gourmet Market and partner stores for eg, Thai Airways Kitchen, Tang Chai Yang, Patonggo Savoey Cafe, Pad Thai Fai Talu, etc.
“PatPat Camellia Seed Oil Festival” was organized as to the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Her Royal Highness granted an initiation to the Chaipattana Foundation to cooperate with Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage to conduct experiment and study in the cultivation of Camellia oleifera tea seed oil in the northern highland parts of Thailand with an intention to restore deteriorated forests. The cultivation of tea seed oil was first carried out at Doi Tung Development Project under the Royal Patronage(implementation site) in Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Rai Province.The Project’s results were afterward expanded to the adjacent areas of Ban Pang Mahan and Ban Puna Villages, covering an area of 3,464 rai (1,386 acres) with more than 623,397 Camellia oleifera plants. The royal initiatives of Her Royal Highness have helped bring back the fertility of the degraded forest areas, and generated incomes for the local people.
