Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Travels to Observe the Operation of Thaharn Phandee Project “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” at Thanpuying Pornsom Kuntholjinda School
On 1 February 2024, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to observe the operation of Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food) at Thanpuying Pornsom Kuntholjinda School, at Sam Muen Sub-district, Mae Ramat District, Tak Province.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when Thailand had implemented lockdown policy to control the spread of disease, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted an initiative to the military units to extend the result in conducting Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) to local communities by introducing them how to grow safe vegetables for household consumption. In addition, Her Royal Highness graciously granted a permission to the military units to carry out Thaharn Phandee Project “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food)”.
The Thaharn Phandee Project “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food)” in this military unit was set up in 2020. The military officers have promoted and encouraged the local people to grow safe vegetables and raise animals. There are 10 schools joining this Project, including the school of Thanpuying Pornsom Kuntholjinda.
The school of Thanpuying Pornsom Kuntholjinda has participated in Thaharn Phandee Project “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food) since 22 June 2020. The school has developed the area within the school premises covering 10 rai (4 acres) to conduct many activities as below;
Safe vegetable cultivation:the school received vegetable’s seeds from the Chaipattana Foundation and has encouraged students to grow safe vegetables for their own consumption.
Local breed chickens raising: The school received black-tailed Pradu chickens from Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) in Nan Province and local breed chickens from Tak Provincial Livestock to raise at school.
Frog raising: the local breeds of frogs were brought from the Royally-granted Frog Breeding Center “Friends for Friends” in lower northern region, Somdet Phra Ekathotsarot Camp in Phitsanulok Province to raise in cement and condo ponds.
The produces will be used as ingredients in school lunch project while the surplus are sold to the community. In addition, the school set up agricultural demonstration plot based on Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for nearby communities and interested people to come and learn.
